Can Time-Restricted Eating Help You Lose Weight?

We’ve all been through the tedious process of counting the calories in order to lose weight, right? It’s easy to lose count or simply to forget counting them due to our daily grind.

Let’s introduce you to a concept called time-restricted eating, or TRE. This can be an easy way to lose weight just by following a simple set of rules. Read on to find out more about this form of intermittent fasting.

Intermittent Fasting

In case you’re not familiar with intermittent fasting, it basically means eating very little periodically. You just need to shorten the number of hours you spend munching away. Restricting the hours when you eat to the period between the noon and 8 PM is one form of time-restricted eating.

Most benefits of this concept are derived from the fact that you stop eating much earlier than before, so this means no night-time snacks are allowed.

What Studies Say

According to the study conducted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a restricted schedule of eating only between 8 AM and 2 PM for four days, and then switching to a schedule which allows you to eat only between 8 AM and 8 PM, is very efficient in burning up fat. Also, those who participated in the study claim that they experienced far fewer food cravings during the day.

Real Life Challenges

Even though it seems like an easy concept in theory, reality is something else. Time-restricted eating is a rather challenging concept which doesn’t allow for cheating. This means no snacking outside of schedule. Also, you should pay attention to the quality of foods and make wise nutritional decisions.

If this nutritional regime fits your lifestyle and makes you feel good, just go for it. It’s not meant to feel like torture.
